50 adolescents who have dropped out from education have received a 6-months long vocational training on four trades (tailoring and dress making, beauty salon, wood furniture design and IT support technician) besides practical experience from Prantic Unnayan Society. The learners also received certificates on successful completion of the training.
This certificate giving and training completion ceremony has been celebrated at the Prantic Unnayan Society Ukhiya Office. The event was honoured by the presence of Youth Development Officer, Ukhiya Upazila, Mr. Ayub Ali.
“The sincere effort that the participants invested for this training for the last 6 months not only harvested subject based expertise and experience, but also enriched them to contribute for the society with a pool of strengthened youth. My door is always open for you all if you need any assistance”, he mentioned.
PRISE Project, implemented by Prantic Unnayan Society, with the financial and technical support from SDC and BRAC, Mr. Mostafizur Rahman, the District Manager, Skills Development Program of BRAC was also present during the ceremony. Also present were the Programme Coordinator of Prantic Humanitarian Assistance Program Mr. Animesh Kumar Biswas Atal, Coordinator- Education, Mr. Abrar Al Amin, Senior Accounts Officer Mr. Monir Ahmmad, MEAL Officer Ms. Asima Tasnim and all other associated staff.
Mr. Animesh shared gratitude to BRAC for nominating and selecting Prantic Unnayan Society as a project partner. He also shared his idea and humble request/prayer to the Youth Development Officer for arranging loans for these groups of skilled trainees in order to start their own work stations.
This project has also provided soft skills training besides the vocational training, which enhanced their communication skills and raised awareness on 18 social issues including prevention of child marriage, dowry, divorce, drug addiction.
The beauty of this project is that, the trainers who trained the participants in person, were committed to ensure employment opportunities for the trainees in their workstations. So, it can be hoped that by utilising these sets of skills, knowledge and experience gained from this project, Cox’s Bazar can be turned into a pool of productive and skillful people.
All the learners and trainers were sincerely thanked for their utmost dedication in completing the project successfully with 100% attendance rate and enthusiastic performance at the training centers and practical training in the workstation during the 6 months of this project.
